International conference on women and Islamic awakening ended in Iran






The 1st International Conference on Women and Islamic Awakening ended in Tehran with the participation of female intellectuals and scholars from around the world. 
The conference took place in Tehran the Islamic Republic of Iran from 10th -12 july 2012.

1,500 women active in political, cultural and social areas from 81 world countries including Iran are participating in the event. Some female members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria were also among the participants.


The Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared the gathering open with a speech on the first day.


The forum focus on six pivotal issues of Islamic thinking, Islamic awakening and revolutionary act, women and Islamic awakening, challenges, threats and guidelines.

It held panels on women and Islamic awakening: achievements and demands, international relations and interactions, the issue of family and capacity building among revolutionary forces.
